Richard Dyer was born in leeds in 1945 an English academic
specialising in cinema. He was also a professor at kings college London and
taught film studies. Dyer's theory was that a star is an image not a real person that is constructed out of a range materials, also the idea that icons and celebrities constructed by institutions for financial gains and target one specific audience/ group of people.
By given one of my actors clothes that a rapper would wear it would apply to the star theory that the star is created and is not real person. Giving an actor a chain and an expensive watch will give of that they are wealthy however that isnt who they are, it is an image created by the institution. I'm choosing to play this theory to my actor because it will help them fit into the industry.
