K Pop music video analysis (girl's day)

This Korean Pop music video is mostly concept based. This music video relates a lot to Laura Mulvey’s on the male gaze, this is because this a girl band with four members in the band and they are all sexualised at the beginning of the video. In the beginning you see the shadow of the band members undressing which is targeted at males, and also relates back to the theory.

The main features that stand out from with video are the set and background. These two things are important in the video because it is mostly concept based and most of the attention goes to the dancing and the set. The set is very bright white with pink patterns, this set is very feminine which goes well with the band and the genre and the music they make.

The costume and make up is unusual however it matches the style of music and fits well into the genre. Also the makeup is really well done and can’t be seen and acts as if it is natural.

  1. The analysis of music videos reflect the research that has been carried out and how this will influence the production.
