Narrative based video

Narrative based music videos tend to follow a story, normally the story is told in the lyrics however sometimes is not. Actors, props and mise en scene are all used to help create and tell the story.



                                                       


Here is an example of a narrative based music video. In Coldplay's song paradise they sing about a female and a journey to find paradise. The female is being represented as an elephant escaping from the zoo and going home to its natural habitat.

Narrative based music videos tend to take the view on a journey, they tell a story. This targets a different type of audience and also gives a deeper meaning to the lyrics as it brings them to life.

Choosing a narrative style video most of the times mean that there is a narrative behind the lyrics because the narrative in the video usually follows the lyrics. Also having a narrative style video means that your audience will be engaged with the video more as they would have to follow a plot/storyline throughout.
